The registration process for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship Scheme has been initiated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under the Ministry of External Affairs for the year 2023. Those who are interested in applying for the scholarship may do so via the official website – a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in.
The scholarship is provided to those who require financial-aid for higher education. The candidate, if he achieves 85 per cent, will be getting Rs 25000 monthly.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship 2023 Age Limit
- For Undergraduate/Post-graduate courses – between 18 to 30 years
- For PhD Programmes – between 18 to 45 years
Candidates can apply to 5 Universities/Institutes in the order of their preference of study. Admission will be granted based on the applicant’s preference as much as possible. However, there may be a situation where the students are unable to secure admission in their preferred Universities/Institutes due to the limited number of seats available. Therefore, students should be prepared to receive admission from any of their five preferences. In some cases where certain Universities/Institutes are oversubscribed, the Mission may consult ICCR HQ and the next preference will have to be exercised.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship 2023 Selection Process
For the academic year 2023-24, a 500-word essay in English has been introduced as a measure to assess the English proficiency of the applicants. In addition, candidates can also submit their scores from standardized tests such as TOEFL/IELTS, if available. ICCR has requested Universities/Institutes to conduct online interviews of the applicants if deemed necessary. It should be noted that there will be no separate English tests conducted by Missions, as was previously done.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship 2023 Eligibility Guidelines
It is important to note that for BE/B.Tech courses, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) are mandatory in grades 11 and 12, and it is a requirement for engineering courses. The mark sheets for both level 10 and 10+2 equivalent levels of schooling should be uploaded along with the transcripts in English. If the original documents are not in English, they must be translated into English for consideration. It should also be noted that incomplete applications may be rejected by universities without review. Therefore, students are advised to thoroughly review their applications and ensure that all necessary documents are attached before submission.
